Description

The proposal is to remove the water mass of the ParanĂ¡ from the main plain, pouring it into the course of the Uruguay River by its retention at the height of Posadas and its channelling through a channel to the alveus of the Uruguay River, 100 kilometres away.
The channel of the Uruguay River is more defined than that of the ParanĂ¡ and its distance to the lower mouth much smaller. The first question on which we have no security is whether the Uruguay channel is capable of admitting its current flow of 8,000 metrs3 / second, plus the 18,000 meters3 / second of ParanĂ¡, that is, a mass of water of 26,000 meters3 / second in the mouth
If that were the case, that is, if the waters of the two great rivers could flow through the riverbed of Uruguay, the consequences would be very noticeable on the region that is currently being flooded. The Argentine ParanĂ¡ riverbed would only receive the waters that flow in it from Posadas, particularly those of the Paraguay River. In this way they would circulate through the riverbed less leaving the main bed (several tens of kilometres) free for cultivation. In the dry season, that is, when these tributaries are not enough to maintain the minimum level, ParanĂ¡ Superior itself could provide the necessary water to maintain the level that allows the work of the river ports along the great river.
